Introduction The
Development Statistics of FATA, 2000, is
the Eighth of the series, which is another effort of Bureau of
Statistics, N.W.F.P., to issue separate Statistical document for FATA like
Development Statistics of N.W.F.P. The frame and objectives of this
publication are the same as that of Development Statistics of N.W.F.P.
(Settled Areas). In
the current issue the coverage of data and sectors of the last issue i.e.
1997-98 has been retained but the data has been given for the latest three
years. Statistics
of almost all the sectors has been updated up to the year 1998-99, but the
latest data available for the year 1999-2000 has also been provided in some
sectors for the users. Anyhow, limitations of Bureau of Statistics, to cover
FATA's Statistics entirely, may be overlooked due to a number of constraints
in data collection, particularly in the spheres of statistical coverage,
existence of data gaps & multiple data inconsistencies, primarily
originating from comparatively less effective & efficient data collection
& information flow system existing for FATA in the attached &
line administrative departments. Anyhow, efforts are continuing to overcome
these deficiencies and limitations, and majorly, it is the main reason of the
inordinate delay in releasing the current issue. I
would like to appreciate the hard work put in by the staff of Bureau of
Statistics, in bringing out this publication. Thanks
are also due to all those Government, Semi Government and Autonomous bodies
who provided data for this publication and assisted in process of cleansening
& rearrangement of data. Suggestions
for improving the publication are always welcome. Dated Peshawar, January 25th, 2002 ( S.MANSOOR-UL-ISLAM ) DIRECTOR BUREAU OF STATISTICS |
